Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search boxes on this site goes directly to the outside provider that runs that tool. The provider processes the input and returns whatever it finds. Nothing you type into a search box is stored or logged by us.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us is kept so that we can answer it. Messages stay inside our own team, and we do not pass them to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Technical details about a visit are recorded whenever a page on this site loads:
- Timestamps for each page view
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The IP address your device was assigned
- The referring site, when one sent you here
- Your browser and its version
Cookies and Analytics
This site sets cookies, which are small files stored on your device. They help show which pages draw visitors and where people leave. Analytics services aggregate that traffic information for us. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some parts of the site may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Tracking down technical problems and fixing them
- Routing your search request to the correct partner service
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Learning which pages help readers and which need work
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of warrants or personal warrant records. What it publishes is general guidance about where Lincoln County warrant records are held, meaning the Minnesota District Court in Lincoln County, the county sheriff's office, and the statewide case-record system. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected from visitors is assembled into a consumer report about anyone.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes on this site. Whatever you enter into those tools is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide their own retention periods and sharing practices, and we have no control over them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to court portals, sheriff's office pages, state statute pages, and outside search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy then applies to your visit. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
A limited set of parties can receive information collected through this site:
- Ad networks that place advertising on these pages
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Government or law enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices for the information this site gathers. No internet service can promise complete protection, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur. We take reasonable steps to limit what is collected in the first place.
Users Under 18
This site is built for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent data to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota law gives people defined rights over data that government offices hold, most directly through the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act in Minn. Stat. chapter 13. Federal and state consumer-protection law may give you additional rights over information held by a private business like this one. At a minimum, you can:
- Request a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
- Ask us to delete your information
Updates to This Policy
This policy can change as the site changes. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Check back if you want to follow how visitor information is handled.
